Focusing on the serious problem of many children being overweight, this current exhibit aims to teach children about eating
right to stay healthy. Children can work-out on a treadmill, play hopscotch in the "Applecise Room" and play a food game
on the computer. They can also purchase and sell food items in the "Rooster Market", cook nutritious meals in a kitchen,
pretend they are a nutritionist and view a film on good nutrition. Their "make-and-take" craft is an APPLE PUPPET or a healthy
BCM meal to remind them to eat from the proper food groups daily.
The Chicagoland area is home to some of the oldest African-American food producers in the country. Children will learn about
the vital role they play in the food industry.
Jewel-Osco is the proud sponsor of this dynamic presentation. This hands-on exhibit is designed to educate and expose
all children to the contributions African-Americans make in the food industry and to help children and adults stay healthy.
